Sophia is an undergraduate student at Stanford University. Her mission is to promote environmental literacy and empower youth of all interests and backgrounds to engage in earth stewardship. She first got involved in environmentalism in sixth grade, when she read an article about polar bears being endangered from climate change. Since then, she has sought to use the same medium that got her interested - writing - to influence her peers. Sophia’s poetry and short stories are recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and she self-published an educational science fiction book, Becoming Earth 2.0, as a kid-friendly resource to raise environmental awareness. She has delivered talks to over 1000 students and works with educators in hope of promoting environmental education in the school curriculum. Sophia founded Light Earth’s Destiny to integrate youth's diverse expertise and amplify their role in this multigenerational push for a greener future.
