Bringing environmental education into classrooms

In the 2022-23 school year, Ms. Lela Ward from Menlo Park City School District introduced her Earth 2.0 Unit to students. This unit referenced Sophia's book Becoming Earth 2.0 and culminated in a creative project imagining the future of sustainable solutions. Below are some of the project outcomes.

Projects by Ms. Ward's Class

    raising awareness through leadership summits

On October 14th, 2023, Jayden Wan, our VP of Outreach, represented LED in the annual SMCOE (San Mateo County Office of Education) environmental leadership summit. With over 100 youth and more than 15 community partners attending, LED was able to collaborate with the San Mateo community to communicate their role in the climate crisis. Below are some images from the summit.

inspiring the future of climate activism

LED achieves its mission of environmental literacy by networking to local schools and giving presentations to students of all age ranges. Shayna, our event coordinator, has visited multiple classrooms this school year to empower students to be aware of what we're fighting for. You can view Shayna's presentation and her documentary here.
